Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 - Create New Permissions Sets.

Hi All,

In this Article we will see a New Feature Released with Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016.

The New Feature allow us to create the permission sets for Microsoft Dynamics NAV Users.

If you remember we used to have customized solutions for same before Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016. There are quite a Few solutions for Classic Versions of Navision.

I Have Released the Same Tool for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 and Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015, Please Refer Links Below.

FOR NAV 2013 R2 Refer Article.                                   FOR NAV 2015 Refer Article.

So that's all the Old Story, now Lets see What Microsoft Bring in the Standard Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 and How it Works.

Now Suppose I want to create a Permission set for the Users who can create Sales Orders.

Steps -

1. Navigate to /Departments/Administration/IT Administration/General/Permission Sets.

2. Create a New Permission Set say CreateSO, as shown below. Select the New Created Permission and From Navigate Tab, Select permission.

3. From the Page Opened, From Action Tab Select Start as Shown Below.

4. Let's Create a Sales Order and see the Output. Click Stop once the Sales Order is Created.

5. Once stopped the Permission Sets will be Ready.

And It still add the Permission only to Table-data, as the customized Solutions used too. But yes the Solution is a Part of Standard Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 Release.

There is something which is related to this article, You can read that here.

MSDYN365BC - Data Upgrade To Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central on premises.

Hi Readers, We have already talked about the number of steps for upgrading to Business Central on Premises from different NAV versions. After that article, I received multiple requests for an article which list down steps for Data Migration. In this article, we will discuss steps of data migration to MSDYN365BC (on-Prem) from NAV 2017. For this article, I am considering a Cronus Demo Database without any customization. For an actual upgrade project, we will have to complete object merge using compare and Merge process. After the Merge Process, the next step is data migration. Let's discuss those steps. Direct Upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (on-Prem) is from following versions - 1. NAV 2015. 2. NAV 2016. 3. NAV 2017. 4. NAV 2018.
